Birmingham Fastener
Birmingham Fastener
Birmingham Fastener sought to modernize its core infrastructure without increasing headcount, reduce the burden on a lean IT team, and establish enterprise-grade backup and disaster recovery. The company aimed to improve ransomware resiliency while building a long-term modernization roadmap across infrastructure, colocation, connectivity, and unified communications to support growth.
Challenge
Hosting in a deteriorating third-party colo with aging compute and storage platforms nearing refresh cycles. Manual backup and disaster recovery processes with no formal runbooks or enterprise-grade tooling, creating high ransomware exposure. Under-resourced IT team (three staff) managing all infrastructure with no capacity to design or operate modern DR environments. Reactive infrastructure lifecycle management with no proactive modernization strategy.
Solution
CXponent initiated a land-and-expand strategy beginning with Fortinet infrastructure resale (firewalls, switches, wireless). Once trust was established, the relationship expanded into full infrastructure modernization, including a refresh of six compute hosts, two storage arrays (100TB primary), and professional services for deployment and configuration. Through brokerage with TierPoint, White Oak Solutions delivered Backup as a Service (Commvault) and Disaster Recovery as a Service (Zerto) featuring near instant RPO/RTO recovery, ransomware rollback, and fully managed DR runbooks. Additional brokerage included DIA and fiber circuits.aluations by at least 200-300% with tuned sentiment analysis.
Results
Birmingham Fastener achieved near-instant ransomware recovery with Zerto, eliminating manual disaster recovery processes and reducing recovery times to minutes. TierPoint assumed ownership of backup monitoring and recovery workflows, freeing the Director of IT from day-to-day DR responsibilities. The environment was modernized with refreshed compute, storage, and network infrastructure, transforming the IT operation from reactive maintenance to an enterprise-grade platform.
